Loomy Thoughts

Ow....

No update for this week - I had a bicycle accident Wednesday, and though I didn't get hurt badly I landed on my hand/wrist and it's a bit sore. It's recovering quickly though, and I hope to be back to crafting later this week. :-D

I did an edging on the log cabin runner the previous weekend, but I haven't trimmed the fringe yet. I hope to get that done this week and get a picture up (and look up the name of the edging to be sure I have it right!). I really love that log cabin pattern! Unfortunately I can see an obvious mistake (sigh).

And I need to do some stash-diving and get some ideas for new weaving projects - I still want to do a mp3 player pouch. I will probably do that on the Bonhop - it will be a small project and that is such a fun little loom; I just need to decide what all I want to include on the player pouch (a section for the little speaker? a section for the earbuds? a flap to button?). Decisions, decisions....

Wow - something actually weaving-related!

I finally took the cloth off of the Bonhop loom (the yarn is more brownish than grayish):

Yep, there is an 'open' spot there, but after fiddling with it I don't see it anymore.

Originally it was going to be a spinning oil bottle holder; then it was going to be a mp3 player holder, but finally decided to use it for my GPS:

Unfortunately, it's just a little too small. So...

I turned it sideways, and tied the warp ends together...

I 'prettified' the seam by threading two of the long sets of ends over the knots, drew the short ends to other side, tied them off and snipped them. Then I stitched one side with matching yarn so the GPS wouldn't fall out when I picked it up from the other end.

I may end up making a narrow strap with a button for the other end, but since it is usually in my purse I'm going to try it this way first.

I still had some of the long ends to deal with. What to do...?

BEADS!

(And the GPS still fits! :-D)

Something doesn't look quite right on the beaded part though - what is wrong with this picture? Perhaps I need to cut the yarn ends a bit shorter?

And my newest toy -

It's an iRobot Scooba, for washing floors! I have a white vinyl floor that has lots of dimples, and Mr. Muddy Paws always has to traipse through there when he is muddiest. The only way to get the mud out of the dimples is to get on my hands and knees, and you can imagine that doesn't happen all that often. So far, the Scooba seems to do a good job and I'm pleased!
